[Sacramento, CA] — Following multiple decisive bipartisan victories on the Senate floor, a comprehensive package of legislation authored by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan is now headed to Governor Newsom's desk for signature.

The advancing legislation earned remarkable bipartisan backing, with multiple bills passing with unanimous support, including AB 432 (Menopause Care Equity Act), which passed the Senate 39-0, AB 621 (deepfake pornography enforcement) passing 40-0, and AB 290 (FAIR Plan automatic payments) also receiving unanimous 40-0 support.

Key legislation heading to the Governor includes:

AB 432 - Menopause Care Equity Act Codifies treatment options and coverage for perimenopause and menopause to ensure quality menopause care for all women.

AB 621 - Deepfake Pornography Enforcement This critical legislation strengthens civil enforcement mechanisms against "nudify" websites that use artificial intelligence to create fake nude images of real people without consent, protecting victims' autonomy and privacy from this harmful technology.

AB 290 - California FAIR Plan Automatic Payments Requires the California FAIR Plan Association to create an automatic payment system for policyholder premiums and providing policyholders a 10-day period to pay outstanding installment premiums.

AB 56 - Social Media Mental Health Warning Labels responds to U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy's call for safety warnings on social media platforms, requiring platforms to display warning labels to young users about the association between social media use and mental health harms.

AB 1064 - LEAD for Kids Act (AI Child Safety) takes urgent action to protect children from dangerous AI "companion" chatbots. The bill addresses AI systems that can manipulate children's emotions, create harmful attachments, or encourage dangerous behaviors including suicide and disordered eating.

AB 578 - Consumer Protection for Failed Food Deliveries ensures full refunds for failed food deliveries, mandating that customers receive their money back rather than accepting insufficient store credits. The bill also requires live customer support representatives to assist with issues, improving accessibility and user experience for consumers.

"The overwhelming support for this legislation shows that protecting California families transcends party lines," said Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan. "From safeguarding our children against AI harms to ensuring women receive equitable healthcare and protecting victims of deepfake abuse, these bills represent our shared values. I'm excited to continue this momentum as we work with Governor Newsom to sign these critical protections into law."

The legislation package positions California to maintain its leadership on technology policy, public health protection, and consumer rights while addressing the evolving challenges facing families across the state.
