Dear Neighbors,
As we wrap up 2025, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what we've accomplished together and share some important updates from our district.
This fall, I was proud to see six of my bills signed into law—including landmark protections for reproductive health data privacy, mental health warning labels on social media platforms to address the youth mental health crisis, and critical reforms to the California FAIR Plan that will help homeowners avoid coverage lapses during wildfire season. We also passed groundbreaking legislation to protect people from AI-generated deepfake images and strengthen consumer protections for food delivery services. While I'm disappointed that Governor Newsom vetoed important bills addressing menopause care equity and AI chatbot safety for children, I remain committed to fighting for these critical protections.
Beyond the legislative wins, we've been laser-focused on California's homeowners insurance crisis and securing relief for ratepayers facing skyrocketing utility bills. And while the fight for transparency and cost containment faces strong opposition, I'm not backing down. Here at home, my team and I have been working hard on the ground, resolving over 554 constituent cases and recovering more than $1 million for families navigating state agencies like EDD.
We've been out in the community hosting policy discussions, supporting seniors in fighting fraud, and connecting with you at events across Assembly District 16. With the federal government shutdown impacting many of our neighbors, we've also put together comprehensive resources to help anyone who needs access to services and support during this uncertain time. As always, my door is open and my team is here to help: whether you need assistance with a state agency, want to weigh in on legislation, or are looking for wildfire preparedness resources.
Thank you for the privilege of representing you in Sacramento and for being such engaged, passionate advocates for our community. Continue scrolling to learn more about what we’re doing to make life better for Californians.
Warmly,

Rebecca Bauer-Kahan
Assemblymember, 16th District
