Summer 2023 Internship Application

The Office of Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan is excited to announce the internship program for the Summer of 2023!

Thank you for your interest in an internship with the District Office of California State Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan.  The window to submit a Summer internship application will open on February 13, 2023, and will close on March 8, 2023, 11:59pm.

We are looking for collaborative and inclusive team players who are eager to learn about, and get supervised practical experience in, the duties of a Legislative District Office. These duties may include assisting staff with constituents and community stakeholder groups, writing policy memos under staff direction, contributing to community outreach efforts, supporting caseworkers with research, working with databases, helping with civic events, and staffing the office. The project opportunities offered to an intern will be based on each intern’s capacity, and those opportunities will be determined by staff. Internships are open to motivated rising high school seniors, high school graduates, college students, and other individuals interested in learning about the work of a state legislator’s office. Internships with the Assembly are unpaid and the Summer internship will begin June 14, 2023, and conclude on August 9, 2023.

Internship Applications: If you previously applied, we ask that you submit a new application as your circumstances may have changed; please use the webform below to apply. Summer interns commit to spending 4 hours per day at the District Office or on assignments in the community, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9am and 5pm, as an intern. We follow all Assembly and public health protocols with fidelity. At this time, interns will be asked to participate in person at the District Office, at 12677 Alcosta Boulevard, San Ramon. You will be placed in either a morning cohort, 9am to 1pm, or an afternoon cohort 12pm to 4pm, and that will be decided by staff.

How to Apply: We will be accepting electronic applications through the webform below. A resume, a slide presentation sample (okay to provide a sample from classwork), and a brief cover letter that explains both your connection to this district and interest in an internship with this particular legislator’s office, must also be attached in order for your application to be considered complete. In addition, all finalists selected for interviews may be tasked with a live work sample. If you require accommodations at any point of the application process, please let us know.

We will not consider applications sent to our office via email or postal mail.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Sincerely,

Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan
(And the District Office Staff)
